dressmaker's paper
26 × 19.5 in (66.04 × 49.53 cm)This work is made in homage to Uruguayan artist Joaquín Torres-García’s América Invertida (1943). Torres-García’s writings, among other things, showcased the influence of native and indigenous culture on abstract art. Using dressmaker’s paper as the ground, the lighter blue central form is the flipped shadow remnant of the wax transfer from Quevedo’s endleaf, drawing material as well as conceptual connections across the works in the exhibition.
